Kevin Heatherington has worked in the Film / TV Industry for the past 13 years.

Gaffer for the award winning film Kneecap which premiered at the Sundance Film Festive in 2024, winning the NEXT Audience Award. Best Irish Film, Audience Award and Irish Language Film at the Galway Film Fleadh. Nominated in the BAFTAs and IFTAS, selected as the Irish Entry for the 2025 Oscars. 

Kevin is a fully qualified electrician with the current 18th addition qualification’s. Regularly participates in additional training to keep up to date with the ever evolving industry updates also including health and safety and machine requirements.

Starting off in the film & TV industry on the shooting crew of City of Ember in 2005. Throughout Kevin's career he has progressed through the electrical crew, holding jobs in all positions.

He has acquired a wealth of experience and knowledge from working with a wide range of DOP’s, gaffer’s and technicians which in implementing this experience across the projects he’s undertaken has proven to be invaluable in achieving the highest quality results to best suit the project and its budget. Kevin has worked far and wide, in the north and south of Ireland as well as England and Scotland, along with many foreign locations. 

Kevin's first Gaffer role was in 2014 on Downton Abbey, where he got a thirst for the role which has driven him to advance and succeed.

Kevin welcomes a challenge and always gives the best. 

For Kevin's team, he hires local crew who have a wealth of knowledge and experience and have worked together across many different projects. The team knows the individual and collective roles and are always working together to achieve the highest quality end result. The team are locally based in belfast and their quality speaks for themselves. Kevin also has a strong relationship with local hire companies for Access machinery and power requirements.

Kevin has been working on the development of the industry here in Belfast. He’s always keen and willing to help out on shorts and is currently part of an N.I screen push to create opportunities for new electrical training to help provide the technicians for the future.
